Having a charger that can fit many different devices is a handy thing to have around.
But is it okay to charge your phone with a charger that was built to charge a more powerful computer battery?
Can A Computer Charger Charge A Phone?
Yes, a computer charger can charge a phone provided the USB charging cable is compatible with both devices.
But before you use a computer charger to charge your phone, ensure that the charger supports a feature called USB Power Delivery.
Most chargers that will charge both a phone and a computer are USB-C chargers and most of them do support USB Power Delivery.

Power Delivery provides higher power outputs for fast-changing and it also allows different devices with varying power requirements to pull the correct amount of power from the charger so that they can charge safely.
This will prevent a powerful computer charger from supplying too much voltage to a phone.
If the charger does not support this feature, only use a computer charger that outputs at either 5V or 9V, as these are the usual voltages that phones accept.
If the charger only puts out a higher voltage, such as 15V, then it’s probably best not to charge your phone with it.
